On Wednesday the 18th of September, members of our staff at Adelaide Festival headed to Morialta Conservation Park for a morning of habitat restoration with the Friends of Black Hill and Morialta, a not-for-profit charity which has been protecting and restoring native vegetation in South Australia for more than 37 years.

Located in the Adelaide Hills, Morialta Conservation Park presents a rugged and wonderous natural environment home to woodlands, gorges and waterfalls.

Under the guidance of John Fleming, staff worked to remove invasive environmental weeds along Fourth Creek such as African Corn-flag and Scotch Broom, as well as cutting back Blackberry bushes.

Sweaty and covered in dirt the team was reluctant to put down their tools and had to be torn away to enjoy the morning tea of homemade coconut slice and cups of tea.

As well as climate action and sustainability, Adelaide Festival is passionate about the role the arts can have in environmental protection and conservation.

This is one of many planned sustainability projects for the Adelaide Festival, and the team look forward to revisiting Morialta to continue assisting in the amazing work of the Friends of Black Hill and Morialta.
